Damien T. Ficek

ficek.jpg

Even as a child, Damien T. Ficek was unfailingly polite.

"The first question out of his mouth would be, 'How are you?' That's what he would say, not anything about himself," said his aunt, Joani Dufourd of Bend.
Ficek, 26, of Pullman, Wash., was killed Dec. 30, 2004, by small-arms fire in Baghdad. He was based in Spokane and leaves a wife, Kyla.

He graduated from Beaverton High School in 1996 and enlisted in the Army. He joined the National Guard in 2002.
His parents, Dean and Suzanne Dibble and Donna and Danny Vian, live in the Portland area.
